The Who, What, & Why

  • There’s a concept in Ayurveda called ojas (oh-jus), which means “vigor” or “vitality”; it comes from the essence of healthily absorbed nutrients that feed all our bodily tissues. This vital energy is said to be responsible for immunity, strength, and a positive state of mind. When ojas is plentiful, positive side effects include glowing complexion, sparkling eyes, mental clarity and focus, robust health, lightness of body, ample energy, happiness, joy, and more.

The name comes from the belief that with radiant health, we can be “bright-eyed” from our physicality through to our wonderment of life and have a sense of overall “brilliance’ in mind as well as our general nature. It is my intent that through Bright Eyed Brilliance, we hit on the multifaceted aspects of you and your life to reunite you with your lustrous health.

  • I spent my childhood watching the sunset's warmth on my bedroom walls, stargazing and searching for the moon in all its phases, getting in water any chance I could, leaning against the wind, and being mesmerized by the dancing of a flame. The simple wonders of nature caught my attention, captured my heart when I was young, and became embedded into my interests as I got older.

Self-exploration and spirituality continued to be a part of my life; I've spent years studying different traditions and practices to deepen my understanding of life, health, and what it means to thrive. Having over ten years of experience working with clients through movement, breathwork, and meditation, I believe in the power of uncomplicated daily rituals, and with another eight years of utilizing and studying Ayurveda, I've seen those rituals along with food, herbalism, and healthy relationships bolster health and well-being.

The simple things in life – sitting in candlelight, spending time in nature, burning incense, practicing yoga - still fill my spirit with wonder and remind me of life's magic. My work aims to share this holistic approach to well-being that honors our interconnectedness to the world while becoming more in tune with our body's unique intelligence.

  • A well-balanced life is dependent on maintaining a healthy body, mind, and spirit in relation to the environment which you are interacting with daily. Ayurveda is, most simply put, the act of living well.

Ayurveda is a well-organized traditional medical system that focuses on complete health and well-being. It has been in use for over 5,000 years as a system of medicine and has been used complimentary to allopathic medical care. It is often translated as the “science of life” or the “knowledge of longevity.” This medical system acknowledges each person as unique and treatment processes vary from person to person based on their specific mind-body composition, symptoms, and root causes of any health disorder.

An Ayurvedic assessment includes a determination of one’s Ayurvedic mind-body constitution (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and any imbalances via a complete health, social, and personal intake, while examination of the tongue or Ayurvedic pulse reading are also common. Protocols and treatments can include anything from diet, lifestyle, and herbal remedies to bodywork therapies, mindset guidance, yoga, meditation, or internal purification processes. The main goal of these natural remedies and interventions is to regain a balance between body, mind, spirit, and the environment.
